I remain Clerk of National Assembly- Sani Omolori

The Clerk of the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori says the retirement age for the staff of the National Assembly remains forty years of service or sixty five years of age.

This is contained in a statement signed by the clerk and made available to newsmen in Abuja.
According to the statement, the recent press release signed by the chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission, Ahmed Amshi, stating the retirement age of National Assembly staff as thirty five years of service or sixty years of age was unconstitutional as it contravenes the extant regulation as contained in the Revised condition of service duly passed by the 8th National Assembly.
The management said it had maintained a studied silence in deference to the leadership of the ninth National Assembly who is looking into the position being canvassed by the commission.
The statement further States that the National assembly service commission does not have the powers to set aside the revised conditions of service passed by the Parliament, adding that the commission had unilaterally taken that decision.
The Clerk and the management urged all staff to disregard the press release by the commission and continue with their lawful duties.

Legislative vibes.
